La Molina ski resort stands out as one of the most advanced winter centers in resources for tourists and athletes with reduced mobility.
It is one of three ski resorts in Catalonia recognized by the Catalan Tourist Board as a promoter of adapted sports and tourism. It obtained the IAKS distinction award on accessibility in 2009 and became the second resort in the world in winning the IAKS special award in architecture for advanced sports facilities. IAKS is the International Association for Sports and Leisure Facilities which, together with the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), distinguish every two years sports facilities for their design and functionality.
Thanks to a joint collaboration between the Johan Cruyff Foundation and the Play and Train Association, La Molina has adequated its resort facilities, such as the entrances to the chairlifts or El Bosquet beginner's slope, which stands out for having an adapted lift with a wide strap and bar to provide skiers with a better balance and safety. In addition, ski, snowboard and guided lessons with an experienced instructor are offered.
Adapted parking spaces, specific equipment rental for different types of disabilities, access to different bars and restaurants as well as toilets adapted for wheelchairs make La Molina ski a referent.
