La Molina (Girona, Spain) ends its three days of European Championships crowning the new European MTB downhill champions, an event with a great atmosphere and a crowd of up to 12,000 people.
The event has gathered 420 riders from 28 countries on the Comella DH track in which the best Spaniards have been Cristina Menéndez (8th) and Daniel Castellanos (10th)
Saturday was marked by official training sessions and the qualifying round on the Comella DH track, which determined the starting order for Sunday's grand final. The favourites came out on top in the Elite category: Austria's Andreas Kolb and Switzerland's Lisa Baumann. Spain's Castellanos achieved a very promising result ahead of Sunday's final, finishing in 2nd place, just 4 hundredths of a second behind Kolb.
There was a great atmosphere in the finish area with food trucks, a pump track, a village and an afternoon of activities open to the public with live music and a tribute to the most veteran Catalan riders.

From August 1st to 3rd, the resort will welcome 420 riders from 27 countries, in an event that combines competition, entertainment and activities for all audiences. The village located in the arrival area with food trucks, haimes, pump track, live music and preferential access to services, will turn La Molina into a party open to everyone.
The mountain resort of La Molina, of Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat, culminates a spectacular summer of downhill mountain biking with the arrival of the best riders on the continent. The Government of Spain and the Generalitat de Catalunya lead the institutional support of this championship that will have 500 participants from 21 countries with national teams.
The Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya resort has also been the venue for the Catalan Downhill Championship where Oriol Cuadrat and Mireia Pi have been the fastest. The La Molina mountain resort, owned by Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat, is already preparing to host the European Downhill Championship from August 1 to 3.
The La Molina mountain resort, owned by Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat, is kicking off a spectacular DHI summer with the celebration of these two competitions on July 18, 19 and 20.
After the start of the season on June 14, the resort is 100% full with the opening of aquatic activities, the Cap de Comella chairlift and the launch of new spaces and proposals for all audiences. A diversification of experiences to enjoy the mountains, sports, gastronomy and nature with innovative activities and augmented reality.
